Genre film collective Monster Makeup has kicked off filming for their third feature film, Queen of the Rats. Their festival favorite, Saint Drogo, was a somber, brutal tale set against the muted backdrop of Cape Cod and a devilishly killer cult. Queen of the Rats is about a group of friends in a noise rock band in the early aughts, who witness the downfall of the Providence mafia. While that’s going down, they also happen to encounter a cosmic creature in the basement of a beautiful historic mill they’ve been throwing illegal shows in. Monster Makeup’s Michael J. Ahern describes it as “The Sopranos meets Green Room meets Little Shop of Horrors.”
We’re so sold.

Why Queen of the Rats Matters for Indie Horror
Micro-budget filmmaking is the cornerstone of our genre, and now is the perfect time to get in on it. One of the most common complaints about the modern state of film is how there’s nothing original anymore. Queen of the Rats seems to be a weird, fun, gory-as-hell original piece of punk filmmaking. So help Monster Makeup bring Queen of the Rats to the world, and nab yourself some cool perks in the process!
