The Horror Press Podcast: “Episode 53 ‘Disclosure Day’ and AI”

IT: Welcome to Derry and What We’re Up To

With IT: Welcome to Derry coming to an end, the crew sinks their teeth into what they think could be in store for future seasons. They also touch on the incredible numbers and ratings the final two episodes garnered. And with a 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD release of Derry on the horizon, how can you NOT get excited?!

Mother of Flies and The Bone Temple

One of Eli’s highlighted films from this year’s Fantasia Fest is the latest film from the filmmaking powerhouse team The Adams Family. Mother of Flies got a new trailer and will be heading over to Shudder on January 23rd. On top of that, the crew talks all things 28 Years Later, including the greenlighting of a third film AND the return of Cillian Murphy!

Dead by Daylight, and Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day

Dead by Daylight is about to score big in January as its license for Halloween comes to an end. Brendan talks about what this could mean for the franchise and what’s to come in future chapters. Finally, the debut trailer for Steven Spielberg’s latest UFOlogy-based epic, Disclosure Day, hit the interwebs, and it’s a massive hit. Will this film have lasting impacts on the actual world of disclosure? And what is to come of the rumored Art Bell biopic?

The Horror Press Podcast Episode 61: SAM RAIMI & GINGER SNAPS

Published

on

In Episode 61 of The Horror Press Podcast, Eli, James-Michael and Brendan talk about what they’ve been watching, what they are working on, and horror movie news.

Leave a comment on Apple or Spotify, and Brendan has promised to get a special tattoo.

What We’ve Been Up To

Eli is hockey crazed because the Canadians made the Eastern Conference Finals (they’ve since lost 4-1) and James-Michael is experimenting with shorter shorts. Everyone has seen Hokum (great fun!), Eli has been busy seeing I Love Boosters (a gorgeous mess!), Obsession (twice!), Lee Cronin’s The Mummy (it was gross and goofy!) and Blue Heron (not a horror movie, just a very good film!). James-Michael is on book 4 of Dungeon Crawler Carl (he’s loving it!), saw The Mandalorian and Grogu (it was cute!), and is playing the new Resident Evil game (fun, but Grace is a problem). Brendan is all in on Eddie Falco (he’s watching Nurse Jackie) and James Spader (he’s also watching The Black List), and is excited for Jackass: Best and Last!

Horror Press got an interesting email from a journalist asking if publications can be bribed with prediction market payouts to give a movie a specific Rotten Tomato score, and we are all curious to know if that’s actually a thing! We are excited for Disclosure Day, but Brendan is the most excited (but nothing can top Fire in the Sky). Will Spielberg’s latest marketing cook people’s brains? Sam Raimi is rebooting Magic, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is officially releasing August 7th, and Ginger Snaps is possibly getting a TV series (also check out My Animal if you love werewolf movies).

The Horror Press Podcast Discusses the Curry Barker and Kane Parsons Drama

Everyone discusses the latest film conspiracy, which is that Obsession and Backrooms was secretly directed by someone else. Both films are financial blockbusters made by young first time directors (Curry Barker and Kane Parsons) who grew up on the internet. Is this fueled by jealousy, a sense of competition between internet talent vs mainstream talent, or just rage baiting for clout? Nicolas Refn Winding is back (from the dead??) with Her Private Hell, and is rumoured to be behind the Maniac Cop reboot. Hideo Kojima disappointed us all by taking an AI check. Jason will be added to the video game Dead By Daylight (as The Slasher).

The Horror Press Podcast Episode 60: Joe Bob & Aughts

Published

on

In Episode 60 of The Horror Press Podcast, James-Michael and Brendan talk about what they’ve been watching, what they are working on, and horror movie news.

Leave a comment on Apple or Spotify, and Brendan has promised to get a special tattoo.

What We’ve Been Up To

Eli is absent from the episode but she ran a cursed poll on the podcast instagram account asking listeners if they’d rather be the middle or the end of the human centipede, so Brendan and James-Michael discuss the results in horrifying details! James-Michael is watching Tales from the Crypt and Brendan has watched Sorority Row 10 times recently for a mysterious reason!

Brendan got his hands on a copy of the Spanish sci-fi film The Antares Paradox, as well as a box set of the Filipino Blood Island films! Also, everyone is scared of the Hantavirus!

Horror News: Hocus Pocus 3, and Trailers

Hocus Pocus 3 is in the works, and will star Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Midler again. It’s the 21st anniversary of House of Wax, Brendan’s favorite! The Faces of Death remake is already on VOD, and will be on Shudder soon. Ready or Not 2 is also available on VOD, and will be getting a physical release in June.

Netflix is depriving us all from more seasons of Skinwalker Ranch (only season 4 is available). Evil Dead Burn dropped both a Red Band and Green Band trailer and the boys wonder whether the trailers are still giving away too much! Are we all just living in a Deadite hellscape?

Brendan then SLANDERS ELI BY SAYING SHE LOVES AND ENDORSES SPIDER MOVIES. A teaser trailer has dropped for Poultrygiest 2: Dawn of the Chicken Dead, someone made a SAW pop-up book, and Resident Evil fans are mad at the new trailer!

Brendan and James-Michael wonder what fans actually want, and Joe Bob Briggs fans catch a stray. Blair Witch is being rebooted (no one knows how to feel about it) and a massive re-release of Adam Green’s Hatchet and all kinds of supplementary material is coming your way (it’s expensive).
