It Came From Shudder: June 2023 Edition

I spend a lot of time on Shudder, filling in gaps in my horror knowledge and trying to stay current on newer indie movies. So, I was more than a little excited to curate this list for HORROR PRESS. This month I have a smorgasbord of movies I’m making time to see on everyone’s favorite streaming service.

The Best Movies to Stream on Shudder This Month

The Howling and Howling II: Your Sister Is A Werewolf (1986)

I haven’t seen The Howling since I was a kid. I also haven’t seen any of the 7 sequels. Because Shudder is getting the first two, it feels like the perfect time to start making my way through the franchise. More importantly, nothing says summer like werewolves.

Huesera (2022)

I have been trying to catch this movie for almost a year. When I saw it was coming to Shudder, I screamed a little. All of the right people in my friends’ circles make it sound like it’s even better than I dreamed a psychological horror movie about an expecting mother could be.

In Their Skin (2012)

I enjoy an occasional home invasion movie. However, this one is on my radar because it’s not every day I get to see Selma Blair in the genre. I think most of us that grew up in the WB and Cruel Intentions era are probably the right audience for this one.

Livid (2011)

I wish I could tell you a cool story about why I selected this French supernatural horror film. However, like in the Blockbuster days, I saw the cover and knew I wanted in. Turns out it’s made by filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo (Inside). So, it’s safe to say this is going to be disturbing.

I hope some of these movies make it into your weekend plans. Let us know what you think of them in the comments.
